In three hour meeting on Monday, with the committee of Uttarakhand famous Shrine of Kedarnath and Badrinath, no major decision was taken at the meeting. It was meant to be a Cabinet meeting, but turned out to be more like a joyful trip for the ministers of Uttarakhand. The ministers travelled to the shrine in helicopters. The state government invested a huge sum of money for the air-tour. More than official work, the meet provided the ministers a chance to offer prayers at the Hindu shrine. CM Rawat asked for suggestions from the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee on the re-establishment plan near the shrine, re-channelizing Mandakni and Saraswati rivers and took expert advice for construction of safety walls behind the temple. Preparations are on for Winter Tourism in Kedarnath this year. Initiated by Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), a group of 50 people will go to Kedarnath. This group of youths from Dehradun will trek from Kedarnath to Chaumasi. In winters, every year, there is a silence in Kedarnath. Keeping this in mind, this time NIM initiated winter tourism in Kedarnath. For this, a group of 50 people from educational and social institutes of Dehradun will go to Kedarnath on first week of November. This will be first group that will go to Kedarnath for trekking during winters. NIM has taken the responsibility to provide complete assistance and guidance to the group. The group will not only visit Kedarnath, but also visit Chaura Bari Taal and will know about how destruction affected Kedarnath and how the temple was safe under the rock.
